Governor Umo Eno Appoints Dr. Akanimo Edet Jonah as Akwa Ibom Poly Deputy Rector

Uyo, Akwa Ibom – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the appointment of Dr. Akanimo Edet Jonah as the new Deputy Rector of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was formally announced to the polytechnic community in a circular dated October 21, 2025, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Godswill Udofah.
The circular informed all staff and students of the key development and urged the entire Polytechnic community to extend their full cooperation and support to the new Deputy Rector as he takes on the critical role in the institution's administration.
Dr. Jonah brings a wealth of experience to the Deputy Rector's office. Before his elevation, he held significant positions within the polytechnic, demonstrating his commitment to the institution's growth and student development. He most recently served as the Director of the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). Furthermore, Dr. Jonah was the immediate past Dean of the Entrepreneurial Centre at the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, a role in which he championed practical skills and enterprise among the students.
This key administrative move is seen as part of the state government's ongoing effort to strengthen the leadership and academic excellence of its tertiary institutions.
