FUTIA Launches Flagship Engineering Program to Bridge Theory-Practice Gap
The Federal University of Technology Ikot Abasi (FUTIA) has launched its maiden Students’ Work Experience Programme (SWEP) for second-year engineering students. The initiative, hailed by the university as a strategic move to boost the resourcefulness of its engineering programs, aims to seamlessly blend academic theory with real-world technical skills. At the flag-off exercise on Tuesday, 9th September 2025, at the University Lecture Theatre, Ikot Abasi, FUTIA's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Leo Daniel, a distinguished Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, highlighted the program's significance. He noted that SWEP aligns perfectly with the university's core mandate to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
