Speaking during a media interaction in Abuja, General Nafiu noted that the scheme has evolved significantly from its 1973 beginnings, where it started with just 2,364 corps members, to its current scale of mobilising approximately 400,000 graduates annually. Professor Odewunmi, a distinguished academic from Lagos State University (LASU), steps into the role following the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo. The Appointment Details The appointment was confirmed via an official letter dated 15th December, 2025, issued by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Dr. Muiz Banire, SAN.
