UNIUYO: Prof. Gbadebo Odewunmi of LASU Steps in as Acting Vice Chancellor

  Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi The University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State, has officially announced the appointment of Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi as its Acting Vice Chancellor. Professor Odewunmi, a distinguished academic from Lagos State University (LASU), steps into the role following the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo. The Appointment Details The appointment was confirmed via an official letter dated 15th December, 2025, issued by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the University Governing Council, Dr. Muiz Banire, SAN. The letter, signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mrs Blossom E. Okorie, noted that the decision follows the approval of the University Visitor. Akwa Ibom's First Private College of Nursing Sciences Kicks Off 2025/2026 Admissions

The first private College of Nursing Sciences in Akwa Ibom State, Maurid College of Nursing Sciences, has commenced admission into its programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session. In a statement by the Registrar, Dr Tom Fredfish, the institution invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its four-year full-time National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in General Nursing and Midwifery. According to the release, applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in not more than two sittings in core science subjects—Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics—from WASSCE, SSCE, NECO, or GCE O-Level examinations. It further disclosed that candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2025 JAMB UTME can apply and obtain admission forms at the institution’s campus in Akwa Ibom State.
