  Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi The University of Uyo (UNIUYO), Akwa Ibom State, has officially announced the appointment of Professor Samuel Gbadebo Odewunmi as its Acting Vice Chancellor. Professor Odewunmi, a distinguished academic from Lagos State University (LASU), steps into the role following the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo. The first private College of Nursing Sciences in Akwa Ibom State, Maurid College of Nursing Sciences, has commenced admission into its programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session. In a statement by the Registrar, Dr Tom Fredfish, the institution invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its four-year full-time National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes in General Nursing and Midwifery. According to the release, applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in not more than two sittings in core science subjects—Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics—from WASSCE, SSCE, NECO, or GCE O-Level examinations.
